Public School Chair
The Public School is an experimental open source school which started in Los Angeles and has since spread around the world. Through their website anyone can propose a class which, if enough people are interested, will be offered by the school.
When someone proposed a furniture making class, and the school received overwhelming interest, they asked us to teach it.
We met four times at our Highland Park studio. Over the course of the class students built a piece of furniture, either this chair or a small bookshelf. Both projects were designed to teach a number of shop techniques and simple joints.
